$8,999

(Materials-only kit. Installation labor not included.)

This kit is intended for experienced builders and installers who are comfortable with base preparation, turf handling, and detailed finishing work.

Small Practice Green Kit Layout

1. Kit Overview

The Backyard Putting Green is a mid-size residential putting green designed to provide a larger, more immersive practice experience while maintaining professional installation standards.

This kit is built using the same materials and methods used in full-scale professional installations and is intended for contractors, installers, and experienced builders. While more installer-friendly than larger multi-section greens, it is not a pre-cut or beginner DIY product.

A key advantage of this kit is that the putting surface does not require a seam, which simplifies installation and reduces risk compared to larger layouts.

2. What's Included

The Backyard Putting Green ships as a complete system. All materials required for the putting surface are included in the kit.

Putting Green Turf

  • One 15' × 30' roll of putting turf
  • Seam-free putting surface

Fringe Turf

  • One 26' × 15' roll of fringe turf
  • Includes cut diagram
  • Fringe turf is longer and more forgiving, making seams easier to conceal where required

Foam Underlayment

  • One 12' × 50' roll of ¼" foam pad
  • Installed beneath the putting surface
  • Provides:
    • Improved base consistency
    • Shock absorption
    • Seam protection
    • A dense barrier that helps prevent weeds from growing through seams

This is a heavy, thick foam — not thin carpet padding.

Infill Sand

  • 900 lbs of 20/40 round washed silica sand
  • Sand is installed on top of the turf, not beneath it

Important Sand Requirement

Only 20/40 round washed silica sand may be used. Play sand, mortar sand, blasting sand, or sub-angular sands are not acceptable substitutes and will negatively affect performance.

Seaming & Adhesive

  • Seaming tape (included)
  • 3 large tubes of professional turf adhesive

Accessories

  • 3 golf cups
  • 3 flags
  • Cut diagrams and installation guidance

3. Installation Notes

This kit is designed to be more installer-friendly than larger putting greens while still requiring construction experience.

Key installation considerations:

  • Proper grading and base compaction are critical
  • Foam underlayment must be installed flat and continuous
  • Fringe seams are more forgiving due to fiber length
  • Infill sand must be worked evenly into the fiber
  • Adhesive application must be consistent and clean

Although the putting surface is seam-free, this project still requires:

  • Turf handling experience
  • Concrete work for cup setting
  • Attention to detail throughout installation

4. Finished Layout

The finished Backyard Putting Green includes:

  • A full-size residential putting surface
  • A surrounding fringe collar
  • A clean, balanced layout suitable for most backyards

This kit is ideal for:

  • Homeowners with adequate yard space
  • Installers seeking a mid-level project
  • Practice-focused backyard environments

When installed correctly, the green delivers consistent roll, durability, and a professional appearance.

5. Shipping Notes (Short Version)

  • This kit ships via large box truck freight
  • A shipping address is required to generate a freight quote
  • Freight quotes are generated manually and provided within 36 business hours

Customer is responsible for:

  • Confirming truck access
  • Unloading materials
  • Staging materials on site

Turf rolls, foam, and sand are heavy and must be handled with appropriate manpower and planning.

Putting Green Kits Information

1. How the Putting Green Kits Work

PuttingGreen.com kits are professional-grade putting green systems shipped directly to the project site. These kits use the same materials and installation methods we use in the field.

The turf is delivered in full sections as received from the manufacturer. Kits are not pre-cut, not modular, and not designed as beginner DIY products. Cut diagrams and installation guidance are included, but successful results depend on proper execution.

These kits are intended for:

  • Installers
  • Contractors
  • Landscapers
  • Experienced builders

They are not intended for casual DIY homeowners without construction experience.

2. Installation Skill Disclaimer

All putting green kits require:

  • Proper grading and base preparation
  • Turf cutting and layout experience
  • Concrete work for setting cups
  • Careful handling of heavy materials

While guidance and diagrams are provided, installation success is not guaranteed. Results depend on preparation, experience, and execution.

The term "kit" does not mean easy. These are construction projects, not plug-and-play products.

3. Standard Turf System (Not Master Series)

All putting green kits use our standard putting green turf system, which features a short, texturized fiber designed for consistent performance using conventional installation methods.

These kits do not include our Master Series synthetic turf.

About the Master Series Turf

The Master Series system requires:

  • Up to 8 lbs of sand per square foot
  • A power broom to properly open and blossom the fiber
  • Advanced technique to avoid trapping or damaging the fiber

The fiber is a straight slit-film polypropylene, which delivers exceptional performance when installed correctly but is significantly more delicate during infill.

Because of the technical difficulty, Master Series turf is not offered in kit form.

Installers interested in Master Series construction must contact us directly regarding training and qualification.

4. Materials Standard (Applies to All Kits)

All putting green kits include professional installation materials.

Foam Underlayment

  • All kits include ¼" foam underlayment
  • Installed beneath the putting surface
  • Provides:
    • Base consistency
    • Shock absorption
    • Seam protection
    • A dense barrier that helps reduce weed intrusion

This is heavy, professional-grade foam, not thin carpet padding.

Infill Sand

  • All kits include 20/40 round washed silica sand
  • Sand is installed on top of the turf, not beneath it

Sand Requirement

Only 20/40 round washed silica sand may be used. Play sand, mortar sand, blasting sand, or sub-angular sands are not acceptable substitutes and will negatively affect performance, speed, and durability.

5. Shipping & Freight Process

All putting green kits ship via large box truck freight.

Shipping costs vary significantly based on:

  • Delivery location
  • Distance
  • Access restrictions
  • Site conditions

To ensure accuracy, freight quotes are generated manually.

Freight Quote Timeline

  • A shipping address is required
  • Freight quotes are provided within 36 business hours
  • Orders are not finalized until the freight quote is approved

6. Site Access & Unloading Requirements

Customers are responsible for:

  • Confirming box truck access to the delivery location
  • Providing adequate space for unloading
  • Staging materials in a dry, secure area

If the delivery location is in a:

  • Downtown area
  • Dense urban neighborhood
  • Restricted-access property

Additional planning may be required to unload and stage materials safely.

Turf, foam, and sand are heavy materials and must be handled accordingly.
