Small Practice Green – Kit Details
$3,999
(Materials-only kit. Installation labor not included.)
This kit is intended for experienced builders and installers who understand proper base preparation, turf handling, and finishing techniques.

1. Kit Overview
The Small Practice Green is a compact putting green designed for tight spaces while still using professional installation materials and methods.
This kit is intended for contractors, installers, and experienced builders who want a real putting green system — not a pre-cut or beginner DIY product. While smaller in footprint than the other kits, it still requires proper base preparation, turf handling, and attention to detail.
The putting surface is seam-free, which reduces installation complexity compared to larger greens, but construction experience is still required for a successful result.
2. What's Included
The Small Practice Green ships as a complete system. All materials required for the putting surface are included in the kit.
Putting Green Turf
- One 12' × 15' piece of putting turf
- Seam-free putting surface
Fringe Turf
- One 12' × 15' piece of fringe turf
- Includes approximately 64 sq ft of excess material
- Excess material can be used for:
- A chipping pad
- A remote chipping station
- Additional fringe expansion
Foam Underlayment
- One 21' × 12' piece of ¼" foam pad
- Installed beneath the putting surface
- Provides:
- Base consistency
- Shock absorption
- Seam protection
- Weed resistance
Infill Sand
- 400 lbs of 20/40 round washed silica sand
- Sand is installed on top of the turf, not beneath it
Important Sand Requirement
Only 20/40 round washed silica sand may be used. Substitutes such as play sand, mortar sand, blasting sand, or sub-angular sands are not acceptable and will negatively affect performance.
Seaming & Adhesive
- 77 linear feet of seaming tape
- 2 large tubes of professional turf adhesive
Accessories
- Golf cups (included)
- Flags (included)
- Cut diagrams and installation guidance
3. Installation Notes
This kit uses the same installation approach used in full-scale professional builds, scaled down to a smaller footprint.
Key installation considerations:
- Proper grading and base compaction are critical
- Foam underlayment must be installed flat and continuous
- Infill sand must be worked evenly into the fiber
- Adhesive and seam tape must be applied cleanly and consistently
Although the putting surface does not require a seam, this is not a beginner project. Construction knowledge and turf-handling experience are strongly recommended.
4. Finished Layout
The finished Small Practice Green provides:
- A clean, compact putting surface
- Optional chipping functionality using excess fringe material
- A realistic roll and feel when installed correctly
This layout is ideal for:
- Limited yard space
- Practice-focused use
- Installers wanting a smaller, more manageable project
5. Shipping Notes (Short Version)
- This kit ships via large box truck freight
- A shipping address is required to generate a freight quote
- Freight quotes are generated manually and provided within 36 business hours
Customer is responsible for:
- Confirming truck access
- Unloading materials
- Staging materials on site
Turf, foam, and sand are heavy and must be handled accordingly.
Putting Green Kits Information
1. How the Putting Green Kits Work
PuttingGreen.com kits are professional-grade putting green systems shipped directly to the project site. These kits use the same materials and installation methods we use in the field.
The turf is delivered in full sections as received from the manufacturer. Kits are not pre-cut, not modular, and not designed as beginner DIY products. Cut diagrams and installation guidance are included, but successful results depend on proper execution.
These kits are intended for:
- Installers
- Contractors
- Landscapers
- Experienced builders
They are not intended for casual DIY homeowners without construction experience.
2. Installation Skill Disclaimer
All putting green kits require:
- Proper grading and base preparation
- Turf cutting and layout experience
- Concrete work for setting cups
- Careful handling of heavy materials
While guidance and diagrams are provided, installation success is not guaranteed. Results depend on preparation, experience, and execution.
The term "kit" does not mean easy. These are construction projects, not plug-and-play products.
3. Standard Turf System (Not Master Series)
All putting green kits use our standard putting green turf system, which features a short, texturized fiber designed for consistent performance using conventional installation methods.
These kits do not include our Master Series synthetic turf.
About the Master Series Turf
The Master Series system requires:
- Up to 8 lbs of sand per square foot
- A power broom to properly open and blossom the fiber
- Advanced technique to avoid trapping or damaging the fiber
The fiber is a straight slit-film polypropylene, which delivers exceptional performance when installed correctly but is significantly more delicate during infill.
Because of the technical difficulty, Master Series turf is not offered in kit form.
Installers interested in Master Series construction must contact us directly regarding training and qualification.
4. Materials Standard (Applies to All Kits)
All putting green kits include professional installation materials.
Foam Underlayment
- All kits include ¼" foam underlayment
- Installed beneath the putting surface
- Provides:
- Base consistency
- Shock absorption
- Seam protection
- A dense barrier that helps reduce weed intrusion
This is heavy, professional-grade foam, not thin carpet padding.
Infill Sand
- All kits include 20/40 round washed silica sand
- Sand is installed on top of the turf, not beneath it
Sand Requirement
Only 20/40 round washed silica sand may be used. Play sand, mortar sand, blasting sand, or sub-angular sands are not acceptable substitutes and will negatively affect performance, speed, and durability.
